NCA’s Bel Canto Singers Receive Superior Rating!
Once again, we’re incredibly proud to report the awesome things our students are doing! This time, the wonderful news comes from our high school Arts department! Choir Director and Bel Canto instructor, Mr. Taylor Nelson has shared a word with us about this recent experience, and how our students have been rated SUPERIOR! Take a moment to give this great story a read!
On Tuesday, April 19, NCA’s Bel Canto Singers performed in the North Carolina Music Educators’ Association’s Regional Music Performance Adjudication. This event, held on the campus of Butler High School, allows top-level public school and private school choirs to perform for adjudication by collegiate music professors. While this event is traditionally catered to large public schools, Northside attended the festival for the first time in the school’s history.
At the event, NCA’s Bel Canto Singers received a state honor rating of SUPERIOR–the highest rating given at the festival. In greater detail, NCA scored 94 points out of a possible 100, including a perfect score in one assessment category. We are proud of these students and their accomplishments in performing challenging music for the glory of God.
The Bel Canto Singers are composed of 21 auditioned students in grades 10-12, and they are directed by NCA Choral Director, Mr. Taylor Nelson (’09).
As you can see, these students are not only truly gifted, but they are also led by a gifted instructor. We are proud of their hard work, their excellence in execution and their poise and experience while performing! We congratulate them on all that they’ve accomplished and are excited to see what they accomplish in the future! Just another example of excellence at every level here at NCA!
