A Year Like No Other: Reflecting on the 2015-16 School Year
The 2015-16 school year was full of growth, accomplishments, community service, and preparation for future endeavors.
This year alone, our students raised more than $3,208,200 in scholarship money.
Check out all the other amazing things our students were involved in this year!
Community Outreach
In April, elementary, middle, and high school students participated in a Day of Service by ministering to the community through completing various projects. Students were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus, doing everything from landscaping and cleaning around campus, to putting together care packages for first responders and service members.
All students representing NCA did a fantastic job of putting the theme for the day, “Leading By Serving,” into action.
Athletic Achievements
Cross Country
The Cross Country program produced two all-conference runners, Austin Moore and Bailey Stinson. It also produced one all-state runner, Austin Moore.
Football
This was a big year for football as we were so excited to reinstate our varsity football program!
Basketball
Both our men’s and women’s basketball teams finished the season as conference champions! The boys won three state titles out of six consecutive appearances in the title game, and the girls advanced to semifinals.
Baseball
In the spring, our baseball team won state 2A championships – making it the first state title appearance since 1992.
Track and Field
Track and field had three state champions in shot put, triple jump and the girls’ 4x100m relay. The girls’ team did an awesome job and took fourth place out of 38 schools!
Soccer
Girls’ soccer experienced a record-breaking season with 11 wins, eight shutouts, 42 goals, and 30 assists.
Fine Arts Growth
This year we saw our fine arts program grow by leaps and bounds as a record number of students shared their God-given talents and abilities through creative arts.
Theatre and Music
Elementary, middle school, and high school students all participated in full-length plays, and music students received superior ratings in area competitions.
Choir
Our A Capella Knights have grown substantially and continue to be a crowd-favorite at concerts.
Studio Art
This year we were fortunate to receive some new pottery equipment among other items for our studio arts students. This summer, some of those students will attend an arts trip to New York City where they’ll not only learn, but create alongside professionals.
College Prep
One hundred percent of seniors were accepted to college, and our teachers and staff played an instrumental role in guiding them through the college application process and beyond.
They wrote letters of recommendation, met with students one on one, and most importantly, prayed for students as they decided where their next steps would lead them.
Students also participated in an off-campus Career Day where they were able to shadow a professional in a field of interest to them.
Summer Missions
The school year may be ending but for many students, the biggest lessons to learn are ahead. This summer, a team is traveling to Barcelona, Spain for an international mission trip.
While there, they will be serving as camp counselors for a bilingual kids camp, working closely with the children and performing any needed services such as cooking, teaching, and lifeguarding.
