Summer Sensations at NCA

School may be out, but our Charlotte, N.C., campus has been anything but sleepy this summer. It is remarkable to see so many students engaged in various summer camps. With a range of activities for children of all ages, we have fostered active minds and bodies, and look forward to what the rest of this season holds. Here is a preview of some campus activities that have taken place thus far:

 

 

Summer Day Camp
Summer camp is in full swing at NCA. Our day camp program is designed for students rising into grades 1-7, and is an excellent opportunity for working parents. From morning to evening, day campers are engaged in exciting activities, learning and playing alongside experienced camp counselors. Our summer camp philosophy is similar to our school’s purpose of developing well-rounded students who love the Lord. Some camp activities include:

• Outdoor games
• Collaborative group activities
• Swimming
• Devotions
• Weekly field trips
• Math and language arts review
• Daily lunch and snacks

Knights Baseball Camp
The NCA Baseball program is increasing in popularity, and our first baseball camp was undoubtedly a summer highlight. From June 9-13, Coach Bryan Larsen led students in athletic training and team-building activities. Coach Larsen is an accomplished coach and former collegiate player who has a passion for teaching and challenging children in the sport. During camp, he helped participants develop skills in:

• Hitting
• Fielding
• Pitching
• Catching and base running

A second part of the Knights Baseball Camp is coming up this August 4-8. We are already excited about having students back on campus for this fun event.

Camp Invention
From June 23-27, we were thrilled to host Camp Invention on our Charlotte, N.C., campus. This was a hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM. Camp Invention is unlike any other summer enrichment program. Each day, students participated in four modules representing imaginative settings – faraway planets, islands or even under the sea. In these settings, they were challenged to solve a problem, using creativity and innovative thinking. It was a meaningful week that fostered both teamwork and individual learning.
