New Year, Same Values

As Northside Christian Academy has grown into a premier private school in Charlotte, N.C., the founding values have remained the same. This summer, we took some time to reflect on those values with a common goal: finding creative ways for students and staff to be reminded of their commitments. With the 2015 academic year just one day away, we have accomplished this in an eye-catching way! On Wednesday, August 20, as students fill the hallways, there will be a new focal point – one that we believe is a tangible reminder of our purpose at NCA. Here is a preview:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our new wall graphics are located at the entrances of A Wing, B Wing and C Wing. The words chosen were carefully examined; each derived from our school’s core values. Three large words; wisdom, honor and truth, are of utmost importance, and the smaller words illustrate just what they mean at NCA.

Wisdom

Wisdom is at the core of our mission. If we are merely teaching lessons and helping students pass tests, then we are not truly doing our jobs at NCA. It is our goal to equip students with lifelong wisdom – the ability to employ sound judgment and clear thinking. As commanded in II Timothy 2:15, we are committed to providing a challenging academic program that teaches students to process information, think critically and develop a Biblical worldview.

Honor

The word honor highlights our goal of developing each student’s character as well as their scholastic aptitude. At NCA, the environment is disciplined, respectful, productive and safe. It provides an atmosphere where our stunts can grow confidently while developing in their relationships with Christ. Healthy relationships with peers are also emphasized, as in our commandment to “love our neighbors as ourselves”  (Matthew 22:39).

Truth

Truth is an underlying foundation in everything we do at NCA. Whether in the classroom or in extracurricular activities, God’s truth is woven in, with an ultimate goal of developing every student’s biblical worldview. We consider Bible study to be a core academic subject, and truths from Scripture are integrated in every other area as well. Our students value truth and develop the ability to seek it in their personal lives.
