Looking Forward to a New Year: Meet Jessa

Northside Christian Academy’s campus is buzzing once again as students return from Christmas Break. With the new year fresh in our minds we caught up with Jessa Maynard, a 10th grade student, to find out what she’s most looking forward to in the upcoming 2017 academic year.

New Year Goals

Q: What are you most looking forward to this school year?
A: “This school year I am looking forward to being able to complete some different online courses. I am taking Forensic Science 1 and 2, which will allow me to explore some of my other interests.”

Q: What is a goal you’d like to accomplish this year?
A: “One of the goals I’ve set for myself this year is to do the best I can in all my classes. I want to provide a solid foundation for any AP courses I take the following year and truly learn the material the classes cover.”

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Q: Let’s talk favorites. What’s your favorite subject, and why?
A: “I really enjoy English because of the literature we cover. Seeing in-depth meanings behind what authors wrote is intriguing to me.”

Q: What’s your favorite Bible verse, and how has it impacted your life?
A: “My favorite verse is, Ephesians 3:16, which says, ‘I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being…’ This verse has taught me that our strength comes from Jesus and not through ourselves.”

Q: What’s your favorite school activity?
A: “Track and Field. Coach Brooks inspires us to work hard and take responsibility for our times.”

A: “I love the teachers that are open to assisting you when you need it. Knowing you can rely on teachers for one-on-one help takes some of the stress away that comes with learning.”

Q:What would you say to other students about Northside Christian Academy?
A: “I would tell them that Northside is like a family and a close community that always supports you. In addition to the outstanding academics, the school provides opportunities to get involved and grow spiritually.”
