NCA Receives Visit From WSOCTV’s John Ahrens
Our second grade class was visited on Wednesday by Mr. John Ahrens, tv personality and meteorologist for our local Channel 9, WSOCTV! His time spent with us came at the culmination of the second grade science unit on weather – which some would say, made for perfect conditions!
He reviewed with them what it takes to make rain, and even had several students assist him in demonstrating how weather phenomena happen when cold air and warm air mix together. Additionally, he gave students safety tips on what to do in case a tornado or hurricane should happen – all very useful tips and information! The students thoroughly enjoyed the demonstrations and the learning time – and they were especially proud when they were able to verbalize the things that they had just learned! At the conclusion of the visit, Mrs. Phillips’ second grade class presented Mr. Ahrens with a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card, candy and a thank-you card to show their appreciation! We’d say after all was said and done, that the forecast for this class is looking pretty good!
