A Whole New World: 10 Unique Activities for Students to Explore
The 2015-16 school year is already a month underway but campus is still abuzz with the excitement of a new year. In many ways the fall season provides a fresh start for our students. Whether it’s the new school supplies, different teachers, or more challenging academics, they are motivated to set new goals for themselves. So how do you harness this renewed perspective and strong motivation to ensure it lasts all year? We believe encouraging your student to try new activities is key, and there is plenty to choose from at NCA.
Elementary School
Robotics: Calling all STEM lovers! If your student shows strong interest in math or science, they will love using Lego-based robotics to learn programming fundamentals in this club.
Martial Arts: In this enrichment club, students learn basic offensive and defensive methods while discovering the various techniques of martial arts. This is a great opportunity to be active during the day while developing self-defense skills.
Individual Art Lessons: If your student is looking forward to participating in NCA’s fine arts programs, private lessons provide an excellent starting point. We offer lessons in piano, voice, band instruments, strings, and art.
Middle School
Drafting: Engineering and architecture are career fields in high demand. If your student would be interested in learning the basics of drafting, this club is a great place to get started. (Students must purchase a drafting kit to participate.)
Choir or Band: NCA’s choral and band groups have performed in many settings, sharing the Gospel message through their musical talents. If your student loves singing or playing an instrument, encourage them to get involved.
High School
National Honor Society: Academics at NCA are not only top-notch, but they’re also very rewarding. Being a part of the National Honor Society is a highly fulfilling and validating measure for any student to be a part of.
Theatre & International Thespian Club: The NCA stage is a demanding but rewarding atmosphere for students who love the dramatic arts. Students can also participate in the honorary ITC, developing leadership skills and growing in knowledge of the theatrical world.
Athletics: The fall season has already begun, but there is plenty of time to try out for a winter or spring team. Opportunities include basketball, baseball, soccer, and track.
Student Council: Students have the extraordinary opportunity to become involved in the affairs of the school. This is not only a highly valuable experience, it is also an interesting one! Students have the unique opportunity to assist leadership in the direction of school functions, activities and events.
All Students
Service and Missions: From kindergarten to Grade 12, students get to experience exciting discipleship opportunities. Whether it is an overseas mission trip, a community food drive, or a Christmas shoebox initiative, our student body is eager to give back in tangible ways while exposing others to the Gospel. If your student has a heart for missions and evangelism, encourage them to seek – or even suggest – new projects this year.
