A Commitment to Our Heritage: NCA’s Core Values
During this season, we always find ourselves looking back — not just on the last year, but on how far Northside Christian Academy has come since day one. With humble beginnings in a church building to one of the top private schools in Charlotte, NC, the Lord has been faithful to bless NCA. Though a lot has changed since our founding in 1961, our core values have not. Sure we may have over a hundred extra acres of campus, more rigorous academic programs, and expanded extracurricular offerings, but our philosophy on Christian education has remained. As we move into 2016, we want to reflect on the values that have guided us for decades, and will continue to as long as we’re entrusted with your students.
Wisdom
It is every school’s job to impart wisdom, but it is the source of that wisdom which matters most. At NCA, wisdom does not come from a textbook, an online resource, or even the teacher’s experience. It comes from the authoritative word of God. Our academic program was designed to challenge students to process information, think critically, and develop a sound Biblical worldview. We’re not teaching students what to think, we’re teaching them how to think with the one source of truth as a guide. To us, this is wisdom in its truest form.
Honor
Even at an early age, it is important for students to understand how and why their actions matter. We emphasize bringing honor and glory to the Lord through consistent character education. For students, this means developing Christ-like character and loving their neighbors as themselves. When students are modeling Christ and focused on servant leadership, they naturally pursue excellence and embody the mission of our school.
Truth
Perhaps the most important of our core values is truth, for without truth, education must be based on a secular foundation. We help students understand that God’s truth is woven into every fabric of their lives. This includes academics, extracurricular activities, social lives, and family affairs. Biblical teaching is not confined to a single class or chapel time, it is integrated in the learning experience so students can see how God’s word is living and relevant.
Values Matter
If you’re looking for a private school for your child, you’ve likely already considered the educational philosophy you are looking for. Wisdom, honor, and truth have been the driving forces behind NCA for decades. As we plan strategically for the future and equip 21st century learners, these core values won’t change. Rather, they’ll continue to serve as the foundation for a truly exceptional education. To see these values in action, we invite you to contact us and schedule a tour today.
