A Culture of Support: Supporting One Another at NCA
Everyone wants their child to attend a school where teachers support their students, but it is equally important for teachers to support each other. Northside’s “ALL N” initiative is a school-wide campaign to create a community that is united in our mission — to pursue excellence in academics and to foster an atmosphere of lifelong learners grounded in Biblical truth. Our teachers, staff, coaches, and administrators are continually finding new ways to put this into action, which creates an environment where students are nurtured by a body of Bible-believing educators who invest in each other.
Here are five reasons we’re committed to going ALL N.
1. Inspiring Educators
Even the most passionate teacher needs inspiration to keep subject material fresh and relevant. Sharing resources and ideas, our teachers boost each other’s creativity through regular brainstorming sessions. Whether it is a best practice or an encouraging story, our teachers lean on each other for support.
2. Fostering Collaboration
It is proven that students learn best when subjects are tied together with a common theme. Teachers are engaged with what is being taught in other areas and work together to integrate their lessons. This approach gives students a deeper understanding of each subject, as well as the Biblical perspective from which it is taught.
3. Preventing Burnout
Burnout is a term that is heard often in the teaching profession, but not at NCA. Our administrators are committed to keeping class sizes small which allows teachers the capacity to plan high-quality lessons and the ability to focus on each student.
4. Setting an Example
Students recognize how their principals, teachers, coaches, and other staff work together, and as a result, they are exposed to healthy collaboration and teamwork. Our veteran teachers are quick to mentor those who are new to NCA, and our athletic coaches partner with classroom educators to emphasize academic success.
5. Serving the Lord
Scripture is filled with references to our commandment to love and serve one another. Northside teachers are highly gifted individuals, but they do not use their talents for personal gain. Instead, they use their gifts to serve both their students and their colleagues, acting as good stewards of God’s grace. (1 Peter 4:10).
