Why Every Student Should Be a “Joiner”
We don’t often tell children to “join the crowd.” After all, most parents and teachers pride themselves on nurturing children’s individuality, encouraging them to pick up an unusual hobby or have the courage to speak their own mind. In fact, we rarely (if ever) utter the words, “If everyone else is doing it, you probably should, too.”
At Northside Christian Academy, we believe the exception to that statement is a child’s involvement in school clubs, sports teams, and student organizations. Not only are most Northside students proud “joiners” of clubs and other afterschool activities, but our staff continues to encourage each of them to get involved outside of the classroom.
Clubs
Clubs are a great way to get connected with other students, have a lot of fun and learn something along the way. Apart from their members, the best thing about our clubs is the variety of choices we offer. From board games and sports trivia to scrapbooking and frisbee golf, there’s a Northside club for everyone to enjoy. What’s more, new clubs are constantly forming! We encourage each of our students to start up new clubs that meet the varied, unique interests of our student body.
Sports
Sports teams are an integral part of student life at Northside. Not only does our school have a reputation for producing well-rounded athletes of exceptional character, but our coaches take the time to mentor players into Christ-centered athletes. From golf and volleyball to soccer and tennis, our sports staff takes time to share the Gospel with each student athlete.
Service
Service groups are an excellent opportunity for students to give back to the community and share a tangible expression of Christ’s love and generosity. From Operation Christmas Child to school-wide service projects, students from kindergarten to grade 12 are able to join together and spread Christ’s love in a variety of ways.
