Charlotte Battalion Chief; NCA Alum Retires With Honor

At NCA, we are always amazed at the wonderful paths that our alumni have taken through the years! We are even more amazed when our alumni impact their communities, not only physically, but also spiritually. Today, we’d like to highlight the wonderful career of retired Battalion Chief and class of 1982 graduate, Keith Rogers!

Keith was hired by the Charlotte Fire Department in November of 1986 and spent six months at the Training Academy for Recruit School. The majority of the next few years was spent working in East Charlotte, which is the part of town where he was grew up. In 1995, he was promoted to Captain and spent the next five and a half years at Station 23 in the Hickory Grove area. In January 2001, he was promoted to Battalion Chief and spent the rest of his career in East Charlotte, being assigned to Battalion 4. He participated in the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters (FCF)where he was active in the Chaplains Team and the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program. Keith also assisted families of firefighters who were killed in the line of duty. On December 31, 2016 he retired after 30 years of service and will stay involved with the FCF.  He is a graduate of Northside Christian Academy’s Class of 1982.

During Chief Rogers’ time after graduating from NCA,  he earned an Associates Degree in Fire Protection from Central Piedmont Community College and later earned a Bachelors Degree in Fire Service Management from Eastern Oregon University. In retirement, he will be the Fire Training Coordinator at South Piedmont Community College (SPCC) in Monroe.
