Fourth Graders & Junior Achievement Team Up!
Starting them off awfully early?! Well, why not?! Recently, our fourth graders here at NCA completed a three week study of finance, fiscal responsibility, economics, and entrepreneurship through Junior Achievement. Having experienced quite a variety of different areas, the students ended the study with a trip to JA BizTown where they ran businesses such as a Medical Center, a Radio Station, Communications, Real Estate, Town Hall as well as Signs and More!
They enjoyed having the opportunity to act as CEOs, CFOs, Sales Agents, Property Appraisers, nurses, and much more! Also, the students learned how to manage a personal bank account, use a debit card, save money, and vote. It was an amazing day, but they all agreed that it was harder than they thought to be a grown up!
Yes, these youngsters do have a while before they have to actually worry about adult things and careers such as the ones mentioned, but it certainly helps to prepare them, little by little for life after school! After all, our teachers practice engaged learning in the classroom daily – a job that not only impact students for a lifetime, but also impacts them for eternity – one day at a time!
